Theft of vehicle leads to charges

Published October 18. 2011 05:01PM

A Kunkletown man and a New Ringgold business have been charged following an incident at the business on Oct. 12.

According to state police in Lehighton, Richard William Ianuale, of Stick Road, Kunkletown, took possession of a 1989 Ford F-150, owned by Christopher Schroder and valued at $3,000, from the 9000 block of West Sherwood Drive, Polk Township. He then took it to Zaprazny's scrap yard, located on Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold, where he received $384 for the vehicle.

Ianuale alleged that he purchased the vehicle from a male name "Jay" for $200, without a title or registration paperwork.

"Jay" was unable to be located and Ianuale was charged with receiving stolen property graded as a felony.

Schroder's vehicle was located at the scrap yard by his friend, which led to the arrest. The vehicle had already been destroyed prior to the arrival of police.

J.W. Zaprazny Inc. was also cited for identification requirements for sale of scrap materials to scrap processors for failing to photocopy Ianuale's driver's license and documenting the time of the transaction and a description of the sold materials.

A first-time offense carries a fine of up to $2,500.

Anyone with information regarding the location of "Jay" is asked to contact state troopers at (610) 377-4270.
