4 area teams qualify
Four TIMES NEWS area teams have qualified for the upcoming District 11 Field Hockey playoffs.
Three teams in Class AA Lehighton, Northern Lehigh and Northwestern have made the field while one from Class AAA Pleasant Valley will also be competing in the postseason.
In AA, Northwestern earned the No. 3 seed and will face Colonial League rival Northern Lehigh, seeded sixth, on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
On that same day, which is the quarterfinal round for AA, defending district champion Lehighton will host Palisades at 4 p.m. The Indians are seeded fourth while the Pirates are the No. 5 seed.
The winner of the Northwestern-Northern Lehigh contest will play in the semifinals on Saturday against second-seeded Moravian Academy.
If Lehighton can pull out a win in its quarterfinal matchup, it will face top-seeded Southern Lehigh on Saturday.
The Class AA finals are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 1.
In Class AAA, Pleasant Valley received a No. 12 seed and will travel to Parkland, the fifth-seed, for an opening round contest on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
If the Bears can pull off an upset, they will play Thursday in the quarterfinal round against four-seeded Bangor.
The AAA finals are schedule for Saturday, Nov. 5.
