Parade route

The Jim Thorpe Halloween parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30, starting at 4 p.m. The parade route is as follows: It will begin at the Jim Thorpe High School and proceed down Center Street to Ninth and onto North Street. It will end at Second and Center streets.

The committee is asking that there be no parking along the parade route. Those parked along the route will be ticketed.

Bible study

A woman's ecumenical Bible study will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Room. All women of the community are invited to attend.

Halloween party

St. John's Lutheran Church, Sunday School, South Avenue, will hold its annual Halloween party from 6:30-8:30 this evening in the church hall. There will be prizes, games and refreshments for the children, nursery through sixth grades who attend Sunday School.

Smoke detectors

The Jim Thorpe Fire Department has free smoke detectors for Jim Thorpe Borough residents. If you need a smoke detector, please contact Fire Chief Bill Diehm at (570) 325-3890. No commercial properties please.
