Student cited for weapon at school
A Jim Thorpe school student has been cited for bringing weapons to school.
Borough police said on Thursday, Oct. 20, about 2 p.m. they were called to the L.B. Morris Elementary School, at 150 W. 10th St., for a report of a student possessing a weapon on school property.
At the school, police were informed that on Tuesday, Oct. 18, an 11-year-old male had shown several students a fully-loaded semi-automatic handgun.
The male was interviewed at the school in the presence of his parents and told officers he had been bullied at school. The student also stated he had a pocket knife in his possession on the day of the incident.
Police filed two misdemeanor one counts of possession of a weapon on school property against the student with the Carbon County Juvenile Probation office.
