Adult Day Care
The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for November, including a canned good drive to benefit the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Donations may be taken to the center, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Other activities for the month will include: Nov. 2, bingo; Nov. 4, sandwich day; Nov. 7, craft day; Sept. 11, musical entertainment with Audrey Christ; Nov. 16, Salvation Army service; Nov. 17, cooking class; Nov.18, Christmas shopping trip; Nov. 29, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class; Nov. 30, show and tell.
In addition to weekly sing-a-longs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling and manicure service.
Both require advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.

Trick or treat
The following is a list of local community trick or treat nights submitted to the TIMES NEWS Tamaqua office:
Rush, Ryan and Schuylkill Townships: Oct. 31, 6-9 p.m.; West Penn Township, Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m.; Tamaqua Borough: Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. Also in Tamaqua, the North/Middle Ward and South Ward Playgrounds will be open, treating tricksters between the hours of 6-8 p.m.
Anyone interested in treating the ghouls and goblins should turn on their outside/porch lights.
First UM
The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this hymnsing and Feed a Friend Sunday in First United Methodist Church.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m., roast beef dinner served from 4-6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Chancel Choir practice at 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m. and the Sunday School Harvest party will begin at 5 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Thursday, Prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Cherub Choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir at 7 p.m. and Senior Choir meets at 7:45 p.m.
The final Mystery Dinner Theatre performance will be at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Calvary UM
The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church.
Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, an evening of praise, worship and Bible study will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m. in the church.

SS. Peter and Paul
The Feast of All Saints will be celebrated Nov. 1 in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Masses at 7 p.m. Monday and at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mass on Wednesday, All Souls' Day, will be at 8 a.m.
First Friday will also be observed next week. Communion calls will be made on Thursday for residents of Hometown and Coaldale.
All others will begin Friday at 9 a.m. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m.
Nov. 5 will be a Fatima Saturday. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a Recitation of the Rosary and Devotions prior to the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on Nov. 6 and receive Holy Communion as a group.
A rosary will be said prior to the Mass.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a children's sermon.
Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
