Hometown Nursing Center to host annual Senior Health Fair

Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is hosting a health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

There will be free screening including vision, blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse ox, hearing, balance, bone density, and more.

Participate in a Zumba for Seniors session, and enter to win prizes donated by participating vendors.

The health fair is a kick off for the celebration of the expansion of the nursing center's therapy department.

New vendors are welcome this year, which include the Social Security Administration, Schuylkill County Assistance Office, Ombudsman Eileen Barlow, Alzheimer's Association, Capital Blue Cross, and PPL.

Regular participants will also be attending, including Diakon's APPRISE, Asceracare, Beltone Hearing Aid Center, Blue Mountain Home Health, Tech Transport, Spectrum Senior Consulting, SEAPA, Schuylkill Medical Center, Saint Catherine's Medical Center, St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network, Schuylkill County Office of Senior Services, Keystone Medical Supply, McNelis Home Care, Providence Place of Pottsville and Hazleton, Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Mount Carmel Senior Living Community, Columbia Ancillary and many more.

"We are pleased to be serving our residents and families with a community service atmosphere," said Jennifer Zimmerman, administrator. "We offer a pathway to home after completion of a personalized rehabilitation service with quality care provided by your Hometown Team," she added.

"This free health fair is an exciting opportunity for us to thank everyone in the community for their support of our residents over the years."

Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Route 54 East in Hometown, provides therapy services and 24 hour nursing care for short term and long term residents.
