Slatington Memorial Park dedication set
The Slatington Memorial Park, located on the site of the old Slatington High School, will be formally dedicated as part of a ceremony and free public concert on Sunday Sept. 25, from 4-6 p.m. The park is located at Main and Second streets, Slatington.
The festivities will begin at 4 p.m., with a brief dedication ceremony featuring local dignitaries from the Borough of Slatington, Northern Lehigh Future Focus, Lehigh County, Lehigh Valley Chamber Foundation, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and others; all of whom played a role in the planning, financing and construction of the park.
In addition, members of several graduating classes who donated money for Victorian style benches will be attendance. Class members are encouraged to bring along memorabilia from their time at Slatington High School for display on tables.
Following the dedication ceremony, a free concert featuring the Quartet of Five will be held. Those attending the concert are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Parking for this event is available on street near the park, or at the First Niagara Bank parking lot across Main Street.
