Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hafer celebrate 70 years

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hafer of Tamaqua celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15. An anniversary party was held at the Knights of Columbus Social Hall in Seek, with more than 50 people in attendance.

Mrs. Hafer is the former Jean Fisher, daughter of the late Oswald and Nellie Fisher of Tamaqua.

Mr. Hafer is the son of the late Raymond and Esther Hafer of the Lewistown Valley. He is retired from Western Electric, Allentown.

The couple has four children: Ester Jean, wife of Stanley Borascius of Schnecksville; Carl and his wife, Joanne, of Hometown; Ted and his wife, Bernadette, of Hometown; and Greg and his wife, Elaine, of Pottsville.

They also have 10 grandchildren, two of whom are deceased; and nine great-grandchildren.

The Hafers were presented with citations from the Pennsylvania Senate and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in recognition of their milestone occasion.
