St. Matthew's UCC

This Sunday, Oct. 2 at 9 a.m., the guest preacher at St. Matthew's UCC will be the Rev. Dr. Scott Brooks Cope, director of Pastoral Care-Phoebe Ministries.

Also, if you would like to make food donations to PVEN, please bring items to the church on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or Sundays from 8-11:30 a.m.

The church will also accept donations for Operation: Touch of Home during those times. They are requesting donations of items to be sent to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, anything from packaged snacks, instant soups, instant/powdered drinks, toiletries (no aerosol cans), CDs, DVDs, batteries (AA, AAA), books, magazines, etc.

Confirmation classes

St. Matthew's UCC will begin second-year confirmation classes on Sunday, Oct. 2, 10:30 a.m.

Youngsters who are age 11 on or by Sept. 1, are eligible for the confirmation prep class, also beginning this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Halloween parade

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 30. Judging will begin at noon and the parade starts at 1 p.m., from the Church Grove to the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company where refreshments will be served.

You are asked to preregister at the Eldred Township Municipal Building, Kunkletown General Store, or your school.
