Tiger booters, Bear netters both post league victories

Northwestern Lehigh kept its girls soccer record unbeaten and the Pleasant Valley tennis team notched a victory over Lehighton in local action on Monday.

GIRLS

SOCCER

No. Lehigh-Northwestern

Sabrina Mertz and Angela Motolese scored two goals apiece as the unbeaten Tigers (11-0) pulled away in the second half for a 7-0 win over the Bulldogs.

Sara Segan, Michelle Lacek and Alexis Gawelko scored the other two goals. Haylee Kubat had the lone assist.

The Tigers had 35 shots on goal to just one by the Bulldogs. Kaylee Owens had 14 saves for Northern Lehigh.

TENNIS

Lehighton-Pleasant Vy.

The Bears ran their record to 13-1 with a 5-2 win over the Indians in a Mountain Valley Conference match on Monday.

Jim White and Jon Walmach came up with singles wins, while the Bears took three of the four doubles matches.

Palmerton-NDES

The Blue Bombers were able to come away with a singles and a doubles win, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a Colonial League match to the Spartans, 3-2.

Tyler Snyder won at No. 1 singles and the Bombers No. 1 doubles team of Kevin Dayton and Tony Gardo was also victorious.
