Tamaqua trio to sing national anthem at Eagles Game
A professional trio singing group from Tamaqua, called I.C.E., will be singing the national anthem during the Eagles and Steelers game this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game, being held at the Lincoln Financial Center in Philadelphia, is expected to draw over 67,500 spectators. The group, which consists of David Fortin, his mother Marjorie Fortin and Tanya Erdman, was formed about 12 years ago as a gospel group. They have expanded their talents to include a wide genre of music, ranging from opera to country.
"We've all known each other most of our lives," said David Fortin. "We started singing together and liked what we heard. Everyone started asking us to sing for them. That is how we started."
"We've been on cloud nine for the past couple of weeks," said Erdman.
The group placed high among hundreds of other vocal competitors. They were then chosen as second place among the top 25.
"It is a pleasure and joy to work with my mother and Tanya," said David. "We always laugh, joke around and have a great time."
This isn't the first time the group has sang in front of a large audience. Last year, they performed during the Far Hills Steeple Races in Somerset, N.J. The prestigious event was attended by over 70,000 spectators.
The group also placed fourth as an alternate during the Eagles vocal competition held last year. The group is also known for performing at local venues, to include community events in Tamaqua and numerous times at the Jim Thorpe Music Festival.
"The three of us just love to sing," said Marjorie. "We routinely travel out of the state during numerous performances held abroad."
"We will start soft and end on a climactic note,"said Erdman, describing their rendition for Thursday's performance.
Although their performance isn't expected to be aired on television, copies will be available via their website www.ICEProductions3.com or their Facebook page.
