Golden Agers

The Aug. 13 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "God Bless America." Minnie Kennedy led the group singing.

The hospitality committee for the months of September and October will be Polly Evan and Ranie Kleppinger.

Nancy Conzoneri gave her Sunshine report with many on the sick list.

The #9 Mine Museum was approved as the location for the summer picnic which is scheduled for Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.

The Fire Line Hotel will cater the affair.

Members are asked to sign-up for the picnic.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford.

Lansford

St. John Lutheran

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.

For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

Summit Hill

Food Pantry

The Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets. There is to be no parking in the alley prior to 9:45 a.m. Recipients are reminded to bring along shopping bags.

St. Paul's Lutheran

On Sunday, Aug. 26 at 9:30 a.m., the Rev. Stanley R. Trout, retired, from Macungie, will be the presiding minister at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 123 W. White St., Summit Hill. All are invited to attend.

Nesquehoning

Woman's Club

Chicken and beef dinner reservations are being taken by Jane Pietruch, hospitality chairman for the Nesquehoning Woman's Club. The dinner will be held on Monday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Miller's Bar-Vel in Summit Hill. Please call Jane at (570) 645-7846 up to one week before the dinner to make your reservation.

Coaldale

C.H.O.S.E.

C.H.O.S.E. is having its last free movie in the park for the summer on Friday, Aug. 24, at the Coaldale Complex Field. All children receive a free hot dog, drink and popcorn. The stand will open at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at dusk.
