Maternity clothes drive

The TLC Moms Group at Our Lady Queen of Peace is holding its annual Maternity Clothes Drive to benefit Monroe County's Shepherd's Maternity House.

Both new and used maternity clothes are desperately needed. The drive will continue until the group's first meeting of the school year, Sept. 6.

Items may be dropped off in McCawley Hall at the specially marked TLC table.

Rotary speakers

Budd O'Malia will speak at the Aug. 30 meeting of the West End Rotary. His topic at the 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting at the Western Pocono Community Library will be: Rotary is Our Life.

On Sept. 6, Jeff Warner of The Village Crafters Gallery will do the honors.

Evening worship

Zion Lutheran Church will hold a 5 p.m. worship service on Saturday, Sept. 1.

Touch of Home

The next regular meeting of the Operation: Touch of Home group will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept, 4, at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert.

Monroe Seniors

This week's meeting of the Monroe seniors, on Friday, Aug. 31, at Zion Lutheran's Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville, will begin at 9 a.m.

The luncheon to be served is Yankee pot roast.

The Sept. 5 luncheon will feature chicken marsala.

Labor Day notes

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will only have Mass at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, Labor Day. The 7 a.m. Mass will not be held. In addition, the church office will be closed.

Daisy Troop

At 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, Daisy Troop 411, will hold its first meeting for the month at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

PV Band Parents

Pleasant Valley Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, at the high school in Brodheadsville.

Teen Sunday School

The first Teen Sunday School at Effort UMC will be held Sept. 9 during the 11 o'clock service. It is for youth in seventh through 12th grade this fall.

Make a Wish program

The Western Pocono Women's Club is holding its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Effort United Methodist Church. The speaker for this meeting will be Maggie O'Brien who will discuss the Make a Wish Foundation. Community members are invited to learn more about this organization which helps to bring smiles to so many.

The Women's Club is open to all women who wish to make a difference in the West End of Monroe County.
