Author to visit Jim Thorpe
Mary McNally Ratto, of the Poconos and author of the suspense novel "The Cain Sanction," will be at the Dimmick Library Friends House during its book sale on Saturday, Dec. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. Ratto will be talking about and signing copies of "The Cain Sanction," a political thriller involving a retired FBI agent, a presidential candidate's headquarters, murder and treachery, and a treasonous conspiracy that threatens to take down the American political system.
Ratto hopes to also have copies available of her new book. "Amaranthine Tapestries," which is just coming out. Learn more about this author and her work at www.marymcnallyratto.com.

Nativity display
St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold its annual creche display this coming weekend, Friday, and Saturday, Dec. 8-9, from noon to 5 p.m. each day. The display is open to the public at no charge. There will be a shuttle bus service available.
Members of the congregation who will be displaying their items, are to drop them off at the church on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 6-7, from 3-7 p.m.
Toys for Tots
The final registration day for the Toys for Tots, campaign will be held this weekend, Dec. 7-8 at the Salem Bible Fellowship Church, 1105 Frederick's Grove Road, Lehighton, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a list of items that are needed to become eligible for this. For those wishing to make a donation, there are two drop off points in town. The Jim Thorpe Market and 22 E. 6th St. Distribution of the toys will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the Salem Church.
