Divorces granted

John Carl Bilodeau, 23 Mahanoy Avenue, Tamaqua, was granted a divorce from Andyara Cristianne Alves, Mastic, New York. They were married December 16, 2011.

Tracy E. Hoffman, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Curtis M. Hoffman, Orwigsburg, They were married January 16, 2006.

William M. Rose, Jr., Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Carol Rose, Port Carbon. They were married August 30, 1997.

Anna Marie Melnick was granted a divorce from Raymond E. Melnick, both of Schuylkill Haven. They were married May 7, 1977.

Kelly Milo, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Paul Milo, Milton. They were married May 6, 1990.

Warrant hearings

Three defendants appeared before Judge James P. Goodman for hearngs to resolve the bench warrants which had been issued to bring them into court.

Marissa Stevens, 23, formerly of Barnesville, appeared in court on a bench warrant issued September 11, 2011 for failing to appear in court for jury selection. The bench warrant was dissolved and bail was set at $2,5000 percentage cash with the stipulation Stevens reside at162 Mogish Drive, Delano, and is not to relocate without prior court order. She had been placed in the ARD (Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition) probation program for 12 months in December 2010 but it was revoked and she now faces trial on charges of theft from the Game Stop Video Store, New Castle Township, brought by Trooper Brent Spleen.

Christopher F. Huth, 27, Mount Carmel, appeared in court on a bench warrant issued October 29,2012 and the bench warrant was dissolved and he was remanded to the county prison without bail pending hearing. Huth had pleaded guilty in November 2010 to charges of criminal conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell to serve 23 months on probation.

Edward Joseph Scanlan, 28, village of Donaldson, Tremont Township, appeared in court on a bench warrant issued November 14 and November 20, 2012 and the bench warrant was dissolved and bail set at $5,000 percentage cash on each of the cases and the defendant shall reside at 206 Lemon Street, Mifflintown and is not to relocate without prior court approval. Scanlan was charged by Trooper Michael Keating with theft of scrap metal from a property in Hegins Township.

Dismiss charges

On motion by District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon a nolle prosequi was entered by President Judge William E. Baldwin dismissing criminal charges against Robert J. Meinzer, 52, of Scranton, with the costs of prosecution to be entered against the defendant. Meinzer was charged with theft of a cellphone belonging to Spector Inc., which operates a plant in the Saint Claoir Industrial Park, East Norwegian Township. He received the cell phone while employed but failed to return it when his job was terminated. The company informed the district attorney they did not wish to continue with prosecution as full restitution was made.

Pleads guilty

Edward Joseph Scanlan, 28, Donaldson, Tremont Township, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and was given credit by Judge Goodman for serving four days in the Schuylkill County Prison and released on parole for 18 months, pay $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, perform 20 hours of community service, pay a $50 monthly supervision fee for each month on probation and make restitution of $1,322.58 to David R. Lapinsky for a bad check and $39 to Charles Wenrich, Hegins Township, for theft of scrap metal.

Sentenced

Joseph Robert Holland, 31, Pottsville, who was found guilty by a jury last October 25 was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin on a charge of forgery to serve 16 months to 32 months in a state correctional facility and make restitution of $6,883.32 to Rent A Center.
