Thorpe boys end 13-game losing streak
The Jim Thorpe boys ended a long losing streak to highlight Monday's scholastic sports action.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Williams Vy.
-Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe's Dane Ciavarella poured in 23 points to lead his squad to the 62-53 non-league win over Williams Valley.
Ciavarella's big game was aided by 14 from PJ Johnson and 13 from Darius Clark.
The victory snapped a 13-game losing streak for the Olympians (6-15).
Brendan Miller's 19 points led the way for Williams Valley.
Jim Thorpe won the JV contest, 39-34, as Michael Harleston scored 10 points.

Shenandoah took an early lead and withstood a late rally by the Colts to pull out a 51-44 Schuylkill League win.
The Blue Devils were led by Mark Twardzick's 15 points.
For Marian (11-10), Anthony Pilla's 12 points led the way. Damian Richards and Nick Kweder both chipped in with 10.
Shenandoah won the JV game, 51-45, behind a team-high 20 points from Luke Stawick.

Weatherly got monster games from Alicia Panzarella and Jamie Dougherty to post a 58-23 non-league victory over Columbia Montour VoTech,
Panzarella hit six treys on her way to 22 points while Dougherty caught fire for 21. Alexis Boyarsky and Dominique Adamczyk did their part in the win as well, collecting 14 and 13 rebounds, respectively.
Weatherly also pulled out a win in the JV contest, 50-22, as Kelly Parker scored 16.

Tamaqua defeated Minersville 55-41.
For the Raiders, Connor Hartung was high scorer with 13 points while Dylan Baddick and Matt Minchoff each added 10.
Tamaqua-Lehighton
Tamaqua ended its season with a 50-37 win over Lehighton.
Ernie Shilko had a team high 12 points for the Raiders (13-7). Connor Hartung added 11.
Zwetotlitz had 16 points to lead Lehighton.
Marian-Nativity
Marian posted a 57-39 victory in its final game of the season to finish the year at 12-5.
Nick Wessner led the way with 12 points for the Colts. Nico Agosti added 10.
8TH GRADE
Tamaqua-Lehighton
Tamaqua finished off their stellar 2011-12 season defeating Lehighton 42-25.
Matt Minchhoff led the Blue Raiders (16-4) with 14 points while Joe Berezwick tallied a season-high 11 points.
7TH GRADE
Tamaqua-MInersville
Minersville topped Tamaqua, 35-10.
Josh Gordon led the Raiders with four points.
Tamaqua-Lehighton
Tamaqua lost its final game of the year, 36-14, to Lehighton.
Tyler Hollenbach paced the Raiders with six points.
For Lehighton, Buchinsky led the way with nine points..
