Olympians, Colts get hoop win
Jim Thorpe and Marian posted boys basketball victories on Thursday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Tamaqua-Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe dominated from the outset and cruised to the 72-50 Schuylkill League win.
The Olympians built a 31-9 first quarter lead in the season finale for both teams.
Jim Thorpe (7-15, 2-10) had four players in double figures. Darius Clark's 19 points led the way. Dane Ciavarella and Conner Ennis both scored 14 and PJ Johnson added 11.
Bret Kosciolek led Tamaqua (5-17, 1-11) with 20 points. Teammate Jake Fegley added nine.
Tamaqua won the JV contest, 44-32, behind Zach Wargula's 18 points.

Nativity-Marian
The Colts built a double digit halftime lead and went on to post a 51-38 Schuylkill League win over Nativity.
Ryan Karnish led the winners with 14 points. Alden Whah and Anthony Pilla both scored 11 for a strong team effort.
Nativity got a team-high 10 from Luke Navitsky.
With the win, Marian ends their regular season with a 12-10 mark overall and a 7-6 record in the league.
Nativity pulled out the 33-23 JV win.

Pine Grove-Panther Vy.
After holding a lead at the end of three quarters, Panther Valley went cold in the final period and dropped a 46-39 Schuylkill League decision to Pine Grove.
Kyler Burke and Larry Zimmerman had 19 and 17 points respectively for the Cardinals.
The Panthers (11-11, 4-8), who scored just two points in the fourth quarter, were led by Brock Mitchell's 15 points. Stephen Romanchik added for 10 points.
Kyle Ferryman and Ethan Vermillion both scored 13 in the JV contest to lead PV to the 50-21 preliminary win.

Sara Jones' game-high 20 points led the Tigers (15-7, 11-5). Teammate Sarah Segan added eight points.
For Catty, Katie Buczynski had 12 points.
