Hluschak runnerup at Wilkes Open
Northern lehigh grad Adam Hluschak was the runner-up at 141 pounds and redshirt sophomore Braden Turner was third at 157 to give East Stroudsburg University two placewinners at the Wilkes Open recently.
Hluschak was one of six wrestlers compete in the 79th annual "Rose Bowl of Wrestling".
He made the final with a 9-3 decision over Trevor Melde of Rutgers, a two-time NCAA Division I national qualifier. He fell to Lock Haven freshman Daniel Neff, 11-3, in the championship bout. Neff previously won the Clarion Knight Point Open in November and was a high school state champion last year.
Hluschak won his opening bout with a 5-4 decision over Danny O'Malley (Maryland) and had a 10-0 major decision of Tyler Chesney (Pitt-Johnstown) in the quarterfinals. He had dropped his first two career meetings with Melde in 2010-11 and had a medical forfeit victory over Melde in the ESU Open this season.
