Schuylkill driver facing DUI count

Published January 03. 2012 05:01PM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, along TR842, to the area of 9 S. Market St., in East Brunswick Township.

State police at Frackville said Wayne Haller, 47, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 1994 Dodge Ram truck southbound when the vehicle left the road at the above location and drove over a landscaping railroad tie. The truck continued about 50 feet through a yard along the residence, then reversed through the yard east and struck several landscaping blocks.

The truck continued east again and struck the landscaping railroad tie. The truck backed over the railroad tie back onto the road and Haller then fled the scene.

Troopers said Haller was located and found to be under the influence. He refused to cooperate with troopers and attempted to resist arrest while being taken into custody.
