Palmerton finishes 3rd
The Palmerton wrestling team turned in a strong showing in the Panther Valley Duals on Saturday.
WRESTLING
Anthracite Duals
Saucon Valley captured the championship of the Anthracite Duals.
Three local teams Palmerton, Lehighton and host Panther Valley took part in the tournament.
Palmerton compiled the best record of the trio going 4-1 overall, while Lehighton ended up 3-2 and Panther Valley rattled off a 2-3 mark.
The Bombers' lone loss was a 35-30 setback to Saucon Valley. They finished second in their pool and then defeated Penns Valley in the placement round to finish in third place in the tournament.
Josh Evans (113), Sam Oberlander (120), Cody Grohotolski (152) and Kane Kralik (285) all finished undefeated at 5-0 for the Bombers. Jake Christman (170) and Skyler Rosenberry (220) suffered one loss in five bouts.
Jake Hoats (106) paced the Indians by recording a perfect 5-0 mark while Josh Gornik (113), Nick Schaeffer (120), Anthony Farole (152) and Zach Coleman (160) wound up 4-1.
For the Panthers, Lenny Ogozalek (106), Richard Nase (195), John Horvath (220) and Rian Shubeck (285) all had 4-1 records.
Zephyr Duals
Bound Brook of New Jersey captured this year's Zephyr Duals tournament title.
Northern Lehigh ended up finishing in 9th place with a 3-1 record as a team. Northwestern came home in 15th place with a 1-3 record.
Ty Herzog (145) and Kyle Greenawald (182) paced the Bulldogs with 4-0 marks. Marcus Hardiman wound up perfect as well at 3-0.
Ryan Rubio (106), Derek Ferrer (120/126), Dylan Hofmann (152) and Theo Young (195) suffered one loss in four matches.
Ethan Keichel (138) and Levi Veppert (182) both went 4-0 for Northwestern. Michael Ortiz ended up 3-0 while Mitch Evans (170) recorded a 3-1 record.

Jim Thorpe traveled to take part in the North Schuylkill Tournament.
Ryan Ruberto was the lone Olympian to earn a spot in the championship round. The Olympians' 285-pounder fell short of a title as he walked away with a second-place finish.
Jim Thorpe's John Condly (106) and Brian Ohl (126) both placed in fourth in their individual weight classes.

Pius X-Marian
Pius X rolled to a 53-31 non-league win over Marian.
Pius was led in scoring by Caleb Knundsen's 16 points as it improved to 6-3 overall.
The Colts (4-7) received a team-high 11 from Zach Motil.
Marian prevailed in the JV contest, 57-48, as Luke Stawick poured in 25 points.

Northwestern breezed to a 58-28 non-league win over Allen.
The Tigers (9-1) were led in scoring by Sarah Segan's 14 points and Sara Jones' 12 points.
Allen got a team-high 14 points from DaShanae Hardy.

Hazleton-Tamaqua
Tamaqua oustcored Hazleton in every frame and pulled away down the stretch for a 44-33 non-league victory.
Maria Streisel led the Raiders with 16 points and eight rebounds. Kayla Hope added 15 points while Christine Streisel had 13 boards, seven points and five steals.
Tamaqua improves to 4-5 on the season.
Hazleton won the JV game, 52-21.

Northern Lehigh picked up an easy non-league win over Pius X, 70-34, as the Bulldogs Aimee Oertner compiled a quintuple-double. The senior led all scorers with 26 points, pulled in 20 rebounds, had 10 assists, 10 steals and blocked 11 shots.
Tina Bastardi scored 22 points and Shannon Weil added 10 for Northern Lehigh.
Northern Lehigh also prevailed in the JV contest, 62-15.
