Speed blamed for Schuylkill crash
Speed was blamed for a one vehicle crash that occurred about 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, along SR54, in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Amanda Ackroyd, 24, of Shenandoah, was operating a 2007 Ford Focus westbound and traveling too fast for conditions when she lost control.
The car crossed over the eastbound lane and traveled about 65-feet where it struck a rock wall along the east berm. The car then spun counter-clockwise about 180-degrees where it came to rest along the berm against the rock wall and partially in the travel lane.
Ackroyd and her passenger, Shawn Aaron Lutz, 24, also of Shenandoah, were not injured. The car had to be towed from the scene.
