Tamaqua, No. Valley Legion teams fall

Tamaqua and Northern Valley both dropped games in legion baseball action Thursday.

The Blue Sox fell to Minersville in Schuylkill-Berks play while the Chargers lost a Lehigh Valley Legion decision to Coplay.

Minersville-Tamaqua

Tamaqua's Derek Rottet had three hits and scored a run but it wasn't enough as Minersville earned an 8-3 victory.

Ryan King had a pair of hits and gained the pitching win, striking out nine, to lead the winners. David King added three hits while Isaac Melochick had two hits and knocked in three runs.

For Tamaqua, Luke Matsago had a pair of hits - both doubles - and an RBI while Adam Bates also finished with two hits.

No. Valley-Coplay

Coplay scored seven runs in the fourth inning and carried that big frame to a 10-5 win over Northern Valley.

Elliot Mortimer had three hits for the winners while Eric Schlaffer added two hits and knocked in two runs.

For the Chargers, who were hurt by committing six errors, Payton Bachman had a hit and knocked in a pair of runs.

The loss dropped Northern Valley's record to 9-8.
