Tamaqua 9-10 team downs JT

Tamaqua Blue remained in the winners bracket of the District 18 10-11 tournament by gaining a 15-0 win over Jim Thorpe.

In other baseball action, the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth completed its regular season and will begin its playoffs later this week.

Matthew Kistler pitched a shutout and the Tamaqua Blue bats had a big day in posting a 15-0 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Nine different players had hits for the winners with Hamm, Boyle and Davis each finishing with two.

ES Mustangs-

Towamensing

Rich Steigerwalt had a double and knocked in three runs for the Towamensing Yankees, but it was the East Stroudsburg Mustangs who came away with a 9-5 victory.

The Yankees jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Jason Montalvo had two hits, one a double, and two RBI and Luke Monica knocked in two runs to help the Mustangs rally.

Phillipsburg-

PV Black Diamonds

Nick McArdle knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Panther Valley Black Diamonds to a 6-5 win over the Phillipsburg Indians.

McArdle finished the contest with four hits and three stolen bases. PV, which rallied from a 5-0 deficit, also received two hits from both Jake Szczecina and Dave Marouchoc.

For Phillipsburg, Dan Blazejewski had two hits and knocked in two runs.

PV Black Diamonds-ES Mustangs

The East Stroudsburg Mustangs swept a doubleheader with the Panther Valley Black Diamonds.

In the first game, East Stroudsburg scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Jason Montalvo knocked in the game-winning run, while PV received three hits, four runs and two stolen bases from Zach Stanko.

In the second game, the Mustangs broke a tie with a six-run third inning to help post a 14-9 win. Billy Lewis paced ES with three RBI. For the Black Diamonds, Dave Marouchoc and Nate Hrebik both had a double and knocked in two runs.

Lower Nazareth

The Franklin Hurricanes jumped out to an early lead and held on to post an 11-9 victory over the Lower Nazareth Township Titans.

Dane Ciavarella had two hits, one a double, and scored two runs for the winners. The Titans received two hits from Devin DeJesus.
