July 11, 1947 Thanks to the pitching of Andy Mahacek and the hitting of Johnny Solack and Johnny Swider, Lansford cruises to an 8-1 Tri-County League win over Summit Hill. Mahacek tosses a four-hitter, allows three walks and strikes out five. He also delivers a solo homer at the plate. Solack finishes with four hits, one a triple, and scores a run while Swider adds three hits, one a double, and crosses home twice. The winners also receive a pair of hits from Joe Delpero.
