Lansford in a sad state

Dear Editor:

It was brought to my attention a member of Lansford Council made the comment to my husband, Tom Vadyak, that he should pay his taxes. That council person should have done their research before making that comment. The taxes that are owed are for 2012. Our taxes do get paid for the year they are due. We are not delinquent.

In these economic times it is hard for many people to make ends meet. Due to health issues I was out of work for two years but we still managed to pay our taxes. Tom and I work long hours for our paychecks unlike some who gained their money by suing Lansford Borough.

Members of council are to be working for the betterment of the community and the taxpayer not for their own personal agenda. This town is in a sad state of affairs but some members of council turn a deaf ear. These certain few members of council seem to have the attitude "hurray for me and the hell with everyone else."

The people of Lansford need to know the kind of shenanigans certain members of council are doing. You are a disgrace to the town of Lansford and you know who you are! I am embarrassed to tell people where I live. Lansford is no longer a nice place to live. Every time you turn around you want to raise taxes, take from the sewer transmission fund. Keep in mind our senior citizens live on a fixed income, many people can earn minimum wage. But do you care? No! You just keep on your high horse, but remember this some day you may fall on hard times, then what?
