Blood drive today

Our Lady Queen of Peace, Gilbert, is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive today, June 6, from 1-6 p.m., in McCawley Hall.

Composting workshop

A free composting workshop will be held at the Monroe County Waste Authority in Blakeslee Saturday, June 9.

Time change

Due to a scheduling problem, the Patriotic Coloring Contest hosted by the Western Pocono Lioness Club on Saturday, June 30, at Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville, has been changed. The time will now be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It still offers children an opportunity for coloring a picture, writing a letter to a member of the Armed Forces, ice cream, and more.

The club will hold its board meeting at noon, Wednesday, June 13, at Cherry's Family Restaurant in Kresgeville.

Club assembly

West End Rotary Club will hold a club assembly when the group meets for breakfast at the Western Pocono Community Library Thursday, June 7 at 7:30 a.m. The board of directors will meet today.

PV Band Parents

The next meeting of the Pleasant Valley Band parents is slated for 7 p.m., Thursday, June 7.

Garden of Giving

Tammy Graeber, founder of the Garden of Giving, reports that basil, broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, green beans and green peppers have all been planted. Raised beds for blueberry and raspberry bushes are well under way and other raised beds are in the planning for next year.

Butterfly program

The Western Pocono Women's Club is holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, June 18 at Effort United Methodist Church. The speaker will be Jennifer Rituper from the Monroe County Conservation District. Her topic will be "Butterflies of the Poconos." Area women are welcome to join the group to learn about butterflies and how they can be attracted to local gardens.
