NV loses opener
Northern Valley received outstanding pitching from Sawyer Smith and Tyler Harris, but South Parkland's Matt Hurd was even better.
Hurd tossed a three-hit shutout to hand Northern Valley a 1-0 defeat in its Lehigh Valley Legion opener on Tuesday.
Smith hurled four innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He walked two and struck out four. Harris relieved the NV starter and pitched three scoreless frames, giving up two hits while fanning a pair.
South Parkland (2-2) scored the game's only run in the top of the third when Jake Rosenblatt drove in Damin Muth.
Kirk Bender had two hits for Northern Valley (0-1) while Kyle Schomp also singled. Collin Breidinger reached base twice on a pair of walks.
Northern Valley is scheduled to return to action tonight when it hosts Fullerton at Northern Lehigh's field. NV is also home Thursday when it takes on Lower Macungie at Northwestern's field.

Valley View received two hits and three runs scored from Tanner Troutman to help post a 5-4 win over Tamaqua.
For the Blue Sox, Matt Roberts and Jackson George each had two hits.

Forks-Towamensing
Tyler Svetik fired a two-hit shutout and struck out 10 batters to lead Towamensing to a recent 7-0 win over Forks Township.
Svetik also aided his own cause at the plate as he collected three hits, two of them doubles, and knocked in three runs.
The winners also received two hits, two stolen bases and a pair of runs scored from Tanner Gutekunst.
