Little League meeting

Anthracite Little League will meet at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 10 at the Summit Hill Borough Building.

Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m., June 11 at St. John the Evangelist Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall, 1 East Abbott St., Lansford. Please note the change in location for the meeting and use the Tunnel Street side entrance. Dues are now being collected for this year.

Summit Hill

St. Paul Lutheran

On Sunday, June 10, the start of the worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will change to 9:30 a.m., and will remain at that starting time through the summer months.

The Rev. Richard B. Baumann, a part-time pastor from Allentown, will conduct the worship service.

St. Paul's will hold a church council meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at 7 p.m. in the church.

Legion to meet

The monthly meeting of Davis-Lawton-Yurko-Breslin-Bevich American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home.

Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.

A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Borough council

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the borough hall. Michael Kokinda, president, will be in charge of the session.

Lansford

Bloodmobile

St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will sponsor a bloodmobile for the Miller-Keystone Memorial Blood Center on Monday, June 18, from 1-6:30 p.m. in the church hall.

Miller-Keystone is the sole provider of blood for local hospitals. Officials note more than 500 donors are needed regionally every day to assist the hospitals in the life-saving care of premature infants, accident victims, surgery patients and chemotherapy patients.

Donors must be 17 years of age or older. Individuals can donate whole blood up to six times per year.

St. John Lutheran

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.

For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

75th anniversary

Sister Laurentia, O.S.F., a daughter of the former SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lansford, is celebrating her 75th anniversary in the convent.

A daughter of the late Stanley and Sophia Kocon of Lansford, she resides at the order's Motherhouse in Reading.

Coaldale

Lions to meet

Coaldale Lions will meet Tuesday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 26, at the Viennese Villa in town. The meetings will start at 5:45 p.m. The June 26 meeting will be the last indoor meeting until September.

All members are asked to attend these meetings. President Robert E. Ames will preside.

Nesquehoning

Crime Watch

The June 6 meeting of the Nesquehoning Crime Watch has been rescheduled to Monday, July 2 at 7 p.m. at the borough hall.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12. All members are invited to attend.
