Updike fiishes ninth in javelin at at NCAAs
Tamaqua graduate and 2010 TIMES NEWS girls track athlete of the year Allison Updike performed well at the opening day of the NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Championships.
Updike finished ninth overall.
The University of Georgia freshman threw her best distance on her first attempt of the day with a throw of 158 feet, eight inches. Updike followed her preliminary attempt with a throws of 149-1, 155-1, and 149-10 in the finals.
