Three squads open with wins
The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) kicked off its 2012 summer basketball league at the North and Middle Ward Playground in Tamaqua on Wednesday night.
The Batter's Box, Schick's Cafe Calcutta and Ryan's Oil & Heating all emerged victorious on opening night.

American Hose-
Batter's Box
The Batter's Box started the day off with a 69-43 victory over American Hose.
Aaron Mantz buried five three-pointers and led The Batter's Box with a game-high 26 points. Erick Trabal also added 15 points.
For American Hose, Mike Taylor had 18 points and three treys, while Mike Conley added 12 points.
Guerrilla Squad-Schick's Calcutta
In Wednesday night's marquee matchup, Schick's Cafe Calcutta tamed the Guerrilla Squad with a 50-42 victory.
For Schick's, Chris Decker had 19 points to lead the way followed by Corey Scheeler's 15-point effort.
Dave Wilson paced the Guerrilla Squad with 23 points and three three-pointers.
Nemesis Enforcers-Ryan's Oil & Heating
It was business as usual for Ryan's Oil & Heating and they took down Nemesis Enforcers by a score of 55-34.
Shawn Tray led Ryan's with 14 points, while Joe Schaeffer netted 12.
Jequan Fairell had eight points to lead the Enforcers.
