June 13, 1985 Northwestern's softball team rallies from a deficit and then waits out a Minersville protest to claim a 4-3 victory in the PIAA Class AA Eastern Finals. Trailing by two runs in the top of the seventh inning, Patty Walko delivers a two-run, two-out triple to tie the game. After a walk and with DH Joell Martrich at the plate, a wild pitch allows Walko to race home with go-ahead run. The Miners then protest that Martrich is an illegal player claiming she couldn't re-enter the game. The protest is eventually denied and Tiger pitcher Candice Snyder tosses a scoreless seventh to preserve the win.
