Don't forget to report you spring gobbler harvest

With spring gobbler season having ended two weeks ago, the Pennsylvania Game Commission reminded hunters who harvested a spring gobbler with their regular tag to report their harvest and that the more than 13,000 hunters who purchased a second spring gobbler license have a mandatory reporting requirement, regardless of whether they harvested a bird using this special license.

To report online, hunters should access the PGC website at www.pgc.state.pa.us, click on "Report Your Harvest" in the upper right-hand corner, click on "You can link to PALS by clicking here," check "Harvest Reporting," scroll down and click on the "Start Here" button at the bottom of the page. Hunters using the toll-free telephone reporting system can call the Interactive Voice Response number, which is 1-855-PAHUNT1 (1-855-724-8681). Hunters still have the option of reporting by mailing their postage-paid card supplied with the purchase of a hunting license.

A series of basic kayaking courses will be presented at Tuscarora State Park and prepaid registration is required. All equipment is provided, those 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult and there is a maximum weight limit of 275 pounds.

Course are Friday, June 22, 5 p.m.; Friday, June 29, 5 p.m.; Wednesday, July 4, 10 a.m.

Jacobsburg Historical Society is beginning the Bicentennial of its historic Boulton site along the banks of the Bushkill Creek with a living history celebration of Northampton County heritage on the grounds of the Henry Homestead, today and Sunday. Located just west of the Belfast Exit, Route 33, at the intersection of Henry and Schoeneck, the hills above the banks of the Bushkill Creek will come alive with costumed living history participants who will be celebrating the 200 years of history brought to this area by the Henry Gun Works.

A quarterly meeting of the Pennsylvania Game Commission board of game commissioners will be Monday and Tuesday, June 25 and 26, at agency headquarters, 2001 Elmerton Ave., just off the Progress Ave. exit of Interstate 81, Harrisburg. Public comments and staff reports will be heard at Monday's meeting at 8:30 a.m., with doors opening at 7:45 for registration of those who wish to make comments. Agenda items will be handled at Tuesday's meeting, which begins at 8:30 a.m., with doors opening at 7:45.

A webcast of staff reports Monday will be available live on the PGC website at www.pgc.state.pa.us, and Tuesday's meeting will be webcast in its entirety.

Capital City Bassmasters of Harrisburg has moved this year's ninth annual Leukemia/Lymphoma Society Bass Classic to Shikellamy State Park, Sunbury. According to tournament chairman Bob Herman, the Saturday, July 14, event is expected to draw a full field of 100 boats because the area of the Susquehanna River is deeper than in Harrisburg, which will allow for the entry of fibreglass bass boats, as well at jet-drive boats.

Fishing will begin at safe light and the weigh-in is 2 p.m. Application forms are on the club website at capitalcitybass.com, and information is available by calling Herman at 717-938-8752.
