Dear Editor:
After reading the letter to the editor from Lee Becker, I felt compelled to write a letter myself. I have known Lee for years, I have always had respect for his community involvement, whether it be fire company or church related.
I feel he has the right to his opinions as we all do. However, I find it strange that he is offended by alleged publicity for Mr. Ron Rabenold's campaign. If this is true, do two wrongs make a right? By insulting the paper's alleged support of Mr. Rabenold, isn't he attempting to bring negative publicity to the campaign of Ron and hurt his campaign? It makes no sense to me. With so many problems across the country, why waste time nitpicking with others.
Just get out there and try to do work to help fix problems, don't make more problems! I tend to think his letter is an attempt to "reverse campaign" against Ron.
We are not all college educated, however, we can see things of what they really are implying in Lee's letter. We're not naive. Don't try to drag a good person's name down. Who's really using back door tactics? Look in the mirror!
If he would know Mr. Rabenold, he'd know the fine, caring individual and yes, teacher, that he is. He deeply cares about our children, senior citizens, veterans and all of us in general. He would not only speak at veteran's expense for his own gain. I would not assume to attack his or his opponent's patriotism. This is the problem with politics today - instead of letting candidates fight one another on ideas, parties sidetrack voters with nonsense.
Secondly, there are so many important things we can spend time with and do good work to make others lives better. We don't need to spend our time receiving English and grammar lessons!
I agree Memorial Day isn't about campaigns and speeches for elections. So let's not attack others intentions on this special day. Just stop and remember the brave people who have sacrificed for us all - period.
Let's move on and get over ourselves. As I like to say, "Learn to play in the same sandbox!"
Thank you for your time. Please excuse my grammar.
Sincerely,
Betty J. Wolfe,
Franklin Township
