Three opening night sweeps

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) kicked off its annual summer co-ed volleyball league on Thursday evening at Black Diamond Park in Coaldale.

Opening night was dominated by sweeps, as VBC Lehighton Tomahawks, Balls Deep and Sandstorm all picked up three wins apiece.

THURSDAY'S RESULTS

Just the Tip-VBC Lehighton Tomahawks

VBC Lehighton Tomahawks posted a three-game sweep of Just the Tip, 25-8, 25-15, 25-20.

Terry Haberman had 20 service points and 10 aces to lead the Tomahawks while TJ O'Connor added 11 service points with seven aces. Danielle Fake also contributed in the wins with 10 service points and five aces.

Trish O'Gurek and Nick Kweder both had two service aces for Just the Tip.

Hope's-Balls Deep

Balls Deep won all three of its games against Hope's, 25-11, 25-15, 25-16.

Devin Parambo was a serving machine for Balls Deep with 30 points and 11 aces. Brittany Homcha added 13 services points and eight aces in the winning effort.

Erik McCann had six service points for Hope's.

Sandstorm-#Swag

Sandstorm recorded a sweep of #Swag, 25-11, 25-16, 25-16.

Kyle Nevenglosky had 15 service points and five aces while Christa Mantz tacked on 12 service points in Sandstorm's wins.

For #Swag, Abby Owsinski had three service points.
