Remaley earns degree from LECOM
Todd S. Remaley earned the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, Pa.
LECOM held its 16th commencement ceremony. The college awarded professional degrees to 248 medical students, 139 pharmacy students, 20 Master of Science in Medical Education students, and three Master of Science in Biomedical Science students.
The new physicians will move into osteopathic internships through the American Osteopathic Association inter match program, or choose a medical specialty internship and residency program.
Osteopathic physicians take a "whole person" approach to health care. Instead of just treating individual symptoms, D.O.'s emphasize health education, proper nutrition, wellness, and injury and disease prevention.
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine provide all of the benefits of modern medicine, including prescription drugs, surgery, and the use of technology to diagnose disease and evaluate injury. D.O.'s can also diagnose and treat patients by suing a hands-on method of therapy known as osteopathic manipulative medicine or O.M.M.
Todd S. Remaley was also awarded the LECOM Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award. This award is given to the member of the graduating class who has upheld the ideals of osteopathic profession and demonstrated clinical expertise in the field of emergency medicine.
