Franklin Shockers capture two of three

The Franklin Shockers went 2-1 this past weekend, gaining wins over Forks Township and Allen Township.

BABE RUTH

FT Shockers-Forks Twp.

Franklin Township scored nine runs in the first inning to help post a 17-2 win over Forks Township.

Anthony Rossino earned the pitching win for the Shockers.

Anthony Farole was the hitting star for FT getting four hits and knocking in five runs. Rossino had two RBIs, Kyle Troch had two RBIs, and Vince Mele knocked in a run, while scoring three.

FT Shockers-Allen Twp.

Franklin Township scored 10 runs between the fourth and fifth inning to capture the 16-2 victory over Allen Tonwship.

Thatcher David had a strong outing for the Shockers. David pitched four innings, giving up five hits, and allowing just two runs. David also knocked in two runs and also scored two runs.

Parker David knocked in two runs for the Shockers as well with Vince Mele helping out with an RBI of his own and Alex Storm also chipped in with three hits.

FT Shockers-Bushkill Twp.

Bushkill Township scored six runs in the first two innings and used a complete game shutout from Alex Kocher to get the 6-0 win.

Kocher was dominant, giving up just one hit and allowing just three baserunners. The Bushkill hurler also struck out nine batters.

Miller had three RBIs for Bushkill Township.

DISTRICT 18 11-12

LITTLE LEAGUE

Valley West-Towamensing

Towamensing took care of Valley West by a score of 8-6.

Tanner Burnett was dominant on the hill and at the plate for Towamensing, pitching five innings, while striking out nine. Burnett also slugged two home runs.

Cody Wallace also had a nice game for Towamensing hitting a three run homer, while Jake Taschler was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a run scored.

LITTLE LEAGUE

J. Thorpe Blue-Franklin Twp.

Nate Rosahac pitched a two-hitter and struck out six batters as Jim Thorpe Blue posted a 12-1 win over Franklin Township on Saturday.

Joe Kamienicki hit a three-run homer and added a double for the winners while Evan Dart and Caiden Hurley each added a pair of hits. Sebastian Rodriguez chipped in with a triple.

For Franklin, Alex Hawk had a double.

Tamaqua Blue-J. Thorpe Red

Tyler Steigerwalt, Michael Minchhoff and Emily Titus each had three hits to power Tamaqua Blue to a 16-2 win over Jim Thorpe Red Saturday.

Titus had a two-run double during Tamaqua's four-run first inning.

Carson Barron, Joe Minehan and Dante Agosti all had two hits for the winners, who pulled away with an eight-run second frame.

Barron was credited with the pitching win.

Tamaqua Blue-J. Thorpe Blue

Emily Titus delivered a three-run hit in the fifth inning Sunday to help Tamaqua Blue gain a 5-2 win over Jim Thorpe Blue.

Michael Minchhoff picked up the pitching win, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out eight batters.

Jim Thorpe starter Joe Kamienicki fanned 10 but suffered the hard-luck loss.

Anthracite-Tamaqua White

Max Vermillion hit a homer to help Anthracite post a 9-4 win over Tamaqua White on Saturday.

Vermillion scored three runs for the winners, who also received a double and run scored from Derek Pavlik. Aaron Miller aided the win with a steal of home.

For Tamaqua, Frederickson had three hits while Steigerwalt finished with two hits and three runs.

Anthracite-Weatherly

Aaron Miller hit two home runs, drove in five runs and also earned the pitching win as Anthracite rolled to a 21-7 win over Weatherly on Sunday.

Jake Taras knocked in three runs and scored three times while Josh Robin added two doubles and scored three runs. Max Vermillion drilled a homer and scored three times.

Other offensive stars included Phil Shelton, who had two hits and scored twice, and Bryan Smith, who delivered a three-run triple and scored two runs.

For Weatherly, Mason Gerhart had three hits and scored three runs.
