March 6, 1959 Tamaqua rallies in the second half to defeat Allentown, 59-52, and claim the District 11 Class A championship. Billy Yelsh scores a game-high 18 points for the Blue Raiders, who trail by five points at halftime. Bill Storch contributes to the win with 17 points while George Willing adds 10. The winners, coached by Eli Purnell, benefit at the foul line by shooting 25-of-36. Tamaqua's Paul Keich and Dan Boyle both chip in with six points.
