Satellite firm sued
Michael W. D'Amico, 730 Upper Nis Hollow Drive, Lehighton, has filed a civil complaint against DirecTV Inc., c/o 2704 Commerce Drive, Harrisburg. The suit states at the times relevant the plaintiff leased the Nis Hollow property to Lisa M. Solt.
The suit states on Jan. 12, the defendant entered into a DirecTV equipment lease agreement with Solt. On that date the defendant, through its agents, caused its equipment to be installed on the plaintiffs' property.
The suit alleges the installation of the equipment was done in a negligently manner and without regard for the property. On Jan. 14 the plaintiff, upon viewing the equipment, notified the defendant that it failed to perform the installation of its equipment in a good and workmanlike manner. Details of the alleged damages to the property are in the suit.
A judgment of $11,600 plus interest, costs and fees is sought.
Contract defaults
Two actions were filed alleging defaults on installment contracts.

Crash suit
A civil law suit has been filed by the widow of a Lehighton man who died from injuries allegedly sustained in an automobile crash.
Cynthia Shipwash, as executrix of the estate of the late William Shipwash Sr., of 85 Pin Oak Rd., Lehighton, has filed suit against James R. Barnett, of 107 Welden Park Drive, Wilmington, Del., and Gelco Corporation, of 290 Executive Drive, Cranberry Township, Butler County, described as an auto leasing firm.
The suit states on March 2, 2010, Shipwash was operating a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck at the intersection SR443 and Mahoning Mountain Road, in Mahoning Township, and passing through the intersection when his truck was "T-boned" by a Ford sports utility vehicle operated by Barnett and owned by Gelco. At the time township police said Barnett had failed to stop for a red light.
Shipwash and Barnett were both seriously injured and flown to Lehigh Valley area hospitals. The suit states that Shipwash died on April 15, 2011, from injuries he had sustained in the crash. He died at the Hershey Medical Center at age 68.
Negligence is alleged against the defendants for the crash and resulting death of Shipwash. Sought are damages in excess of $50,000 on each of 10 counts. Also included in the suit is Shipwash having a son and daughter.
