Managing snow days
Dear Editor:
I would like to commend Barbara A. Conway, superintendent of Jim Thorpe Area School District for not closing the school system on Feb. 29. There are many single parents that have a very limited time for visitation with their children.
My visitation is only over holiday timeframes during the school year. One make-up day over Easter recess would have cost me four days of visitation. As it stands, I only get my daughter for about 14 days during the school year. (Christmas and Easter).
It is extremely difficult to not be a part of our children's lives for such a long period. I could only wish that the school systems could manage the "snow days" in a better fashion so that they wouldn't interfere or shorten the time we get with our children. I love my daughter dearly and miss her every day. I enjoy what little time we spend during the school year and wish I wouldn't have to stress about the weather shortening it any further.
A Loving Father
