Anthracite Little League is still accepting registrations through March 25. There is a cost. Any parent interested should call (570) 645-5385 or email anthracitelittleleague@hotmail.com.

Easter on the Hill

The Summit Hill Recreation Commission will hold its annual "Easter on the Hill" program on Sunday, April 1, at 1 p.m.

The event is for Summit Hill residents only, and is for youngsters up to the age of 12.

Festivities will take place in the Bill Black Memorial Park and Ludlow Park. In the event of rain, the program will be moved to the Hill Top Community Center.

Children are urged to bring their own Easter basket.

SHHS graduates

The Class of 1962 of the former Summit Hill High School would like to extend an invitation to anyone who attended the school to join the class members for their 50-year reunion. The event is planned for Saturday, May 26, at the Parkview Inn, Summit Hill.

Cleanup dates

Summit Hill Borough will hold its annual spring clean up program on April 19 and 24.

On Thursday, April 19, refuse will be picked up by the sanitation contractor on the east side of town, as well as at Knepper's Trailer Lots and East and West White Bear drives in White Bear.

On Tuesday, April 24, refuse will be picked up by the sanitation contractor on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads in White Bear.

Among the discarded items that will be picked up are five tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.

All items must have all chemicals removed from them and residents must tag them with a notation stating that the chemicals have been removed. Also, doors must be taken off refrigerators and freezers.

In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will also be taken by the contractor.

St. Paul Lutheran

The Rev. John Deisinger, a retired pastor from Allentown, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, March 25.

She will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.

On Saturday, March 24, members of the church's Sunday school will visit the Carbon County Environmental Education Center, White Bear.

They will be there from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., during which time they will make bird boxes.

Nesquehoning

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning VFW Ladies Auxiliary was held on Tuesday, March 13, with President Amanda Breiner presiding. General Orders 8 were read and filed for action. Communication was received regarding the District 20 Voice of Democracy Banquet, which will be held March 24 at Tobyhanna.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 31 at noon. Preregistration was required for children and grandchildren of all members from birth to age 12.

The annual Loyalty Day Program will be held on Tuesday, May 1, beginning at 6 p.m. The Voice of Democracy winners will receive their awards at that time. The public is invited to attend this program. The annual Buddy Poppy Promotion will be at Redner's the weekend of May 11-12

Members who have not yet paid their dues are now delinquent and should submit their dues as soon as possible. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Post Home. Nomination and Election of Officers for 2012-2013 will be held at the April session. All members are encouraged to attend.

Lansford

Friends of the Pool

The Lansford Parks and Recreation is forming a Friends of the Pool committee. A meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the borough community center on Ridge Street.
