Hitting Star(s)- Brandon Boggs and Jose Morales each went 2-for 3 with two RBI for the Indians who had 12 hits as a team. Lehigh Valley knocked out 10 hits with Mike Fontenot (3-for 4), Derrick Mitchell (2-for-3) and Andres Blanco (2-for-4) had multiple-hit games.

Pitching star(s) - Rudy Owens (2-0) got the win for the Indians with giving up only two runs in six innings. The Indian bullpen was impressive as three pitchers shutout Lehigh Valley on just two hits.

Story of the game - Lehigh Valley started six of the nine innings with base hits, including the first five, but could only muster two runs. A key hit in any of the early innings could have meant a difference in the outcome.

Key Inning - 6th Inning: The Indians take a close game and put it out of reach. In the top of the inning, Indian pitcher Rudy Owens retired Lehigh Valley in order for the first time in the game. In the bottom of the innings, the Indians were able to do what other teams could not: Get to Austin Hyatt. The Pigs right-handed starter was blasted for six runs on nine hits. In this inning, Hyatt walked the leadoff batter and the game went downhill from there. Brandon Boggs' one-out double plated two. Jose Morales followed with a single that scored Boggs. The three plated runs turn the score from and one-run game to an Indian win.

Notes - Walks kill! Lehigh Valley pitcher walked four batters while Indianapolis pitchers walked none…Lehigh Valley scored a single run in each of the first two innings. In the first inning, Scott Podsednik singled, stole second, and scored on Hector Luna's eighth double of the year…Mike Fontenot led off the second inning with his sixth double of the year and then immediately scored on when Derrick Mitchell lined a double to left field. With no out in the inning, Lehigh Valley was unable to advance Mitchell…Lehigh Valley failed to score again…Fontenot continues to chew up Triple-A pitching. His 3-hits yesterday raises his batting average to .349. With his ability to play all infield positions, his batting may be more attractive to the Phillies than Freddie Galvis who has been hitting sub-.200 for most of the season.
