Give Me Strength

Dear Editor:

I wrote this poem for Peggy Sue O'Donnell and others fighting cancer every day. And I don't know how this works, but I think Peggy Sue would make a fantastic Grand Marshall for the St Patrick's Day Parade in 2013!! I think the Friends of Peggy Sue on facebook would agree!!

Give Me Strength

Give me strength to stand tall one day more

When it seems as if I might not have any

Give me strength to see beyond the dawn

One day longer than the last one I had

Give me Hope, that tomorrow will come

And find me watching the rain fall down

Give Me Hope, that I will survive this thing

That tries to keep me down and out of life

I will move on, when I feel it is time for me

But, only to another place, I know and love

This life is mine, and I will NOT give it up

I will survive, I will remain strong, I will it

I hear words of honor, praise, love and life

Coming from those that have come to me

Surrounding me with the love they hold

A blanket of hope, love, and of courage

Give Me Hope and I will face life down

Holding my ground and standing up tall

Give Me Strength, and help me stand again

Give Me Strength for tomorrow is coming……

For Peggy Sue, who always has a smile or kind word for everyone!!

And for anyone else who is battling cancer…keep up the fight!!
