Seeks back taxes
Tamaqua Area School District filed suit against two properties owners alleging they owe back school taxes on their properties.
Action was started against Grace Osenbach seeking $1,753.01 owed on the property at 3352 Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold; and a suit against Devine Properties, LLC, of 116 North 38th Street, Allentown, seeking back taxes of $692.39 on a property at 7 Cherry Street, Tamaqua.
Panther Valley School District filed a similar action against Apartments and Acquisitions, 1102 Fullerton Avenue, Allentown, alleging they owe back taxes of $1,039.22 on a property at 171 Second Street, Coaldale.
Mortgage foreclosure
CACL Federal Credit Union, Pottsville, filed suit to foreclose on a property at 207 Orwigsburg Street, Tamaqua, owned by Ernest and Mariann W. Shilko claiming they have defaulted in payments and a principal balance of $36,046.36 is owed plus interest and costs.
Seeks ownership
Federal National Mortgage Association, Philadelphia, filed a suit against Mark D. Conrad seeking title to the property at 3220 Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold. The association states in the suit it purchased the property at a sheriff's sale.
Divorces granted
Betsy Ann Careyva was granted a divorce from Joseph A. Careyva, both of Ringtown. They were married June 20, 1981,
Dawn M. Potten-Van Der Karr, 3 Center Street, Apartment B, Kelayres, was granted a divorce from Ted M. Van Der Karr, Towanda. They were married June 23, 2011.
Sentenced
Caleb Bryant Cook, 23, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in Cressona Borough and was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin to serve three months to 12 months in the Schuylkill County Prison to begin at the expiration of a nine to 35 months he is now serving, pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and make restitution of $113 To Bethlehem Regional Lab. Cook was cited by Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
Tammy Cougle, 44, Pine Grove, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, was placed in the State Intermediate Punishment Program for 24 months with a minimum of seven months confined and must undergo drug and alcohol institutional therapy. She also must pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account. Cougle was cited by Saint Clair Police.
Wins appeals
Robin Pagani, 56, Quakake, appealed a summary conviction by a magisterial district justice of a simple assault and when the case was brought before Judge James P. Goodman the Commonwealth announced the victim did not wish to prosecute and the court dismissed the charge. Pagani was charged with assaulting April Marie Pfeiffer, of Shenandoah, at the Rosemont Campsite in Walker Township.
Jeannine A. Miller, 49,of 33 Clover Land, Andreas, appealed from a judgment by a district justice of exceeding the speed limit when stopped on Route 309 on top of Blue Mountain by Officer Glenn Laninger, West Penn Township Police. Judge Goodman found her not guilty.
