Major Ronald Brosius retired from active duty in the U.S. Army on May 1.
A graduate of Lehighton High School class of 1988. He is a son of retired Master Sergeant (U. S. Army) Ronald C. Brosius and Helen Brosius also of Lehighton.
He enlisted in the active Army in July 1989. After 13 years of enlisted service and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, he was accepted to the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps in April of 2002. Held various positions including Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader, Maintenance Control Officer, Military Imbedded Transition Team member, Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Scranton, Company Commander of Fox Company 1 Armor, and most recently as the Operations Officer for the 1 Armor Battalion, Fort Benning Georgia.
He is a graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Officer Candidate School, Ordnance Officer Basic Course, and the Airborne and Air Assault Schools. Holds a Bachelors of Business Management and Associates in Liberal Arts.
He was deployed to Afghanistan (2003-2004), Iraq (2007-2008)
Among his medals and Decorations are three Army Achievement Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, three Good Conduct medals, two Meritorious service medals, two Bronze Stars, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, The Global War on Terrorism Medal, The Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, the Afghanistan Medal with campaign star, the Combat Action Badge 2nd award, the Parachutists Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Overseas Service Ribbon 5th award.
He is married to Major Christina Encina of the U.S. Air Force and they have two daughters Anastasia (20 years) and Lily (22 months)
