Golden Agers
The Sept. 10 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with prayer and moment of silence remembering the 9/11 tragedy. Irene Hudasky led a hymn dedicated to this date. Sue Dopira led the group with patriotic songs ending with "Let There Be Peace On Earth."
Mary Ann and Frank Karnish were congratulated on their 46th wedding anniversary.
The next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at St. John Slovak Lutheran Church Lansford. A guest speaker, Nick Hawkey, will do a presentation on "Dream Come True," a program helping children who are seriously ill. Bingo also is scheduled to be played.
Library class
The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will hold a photography class from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26. The class replaces one on eBay that had been scheduled.
Summit Hill
Historical society
The Summit Hill Historical Society will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the museum, 136 W. Ludlow St.
Lions will meet
Summit Hill Lions will hold their September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Parkview Inn starting at 6 p.m. The guest speaker for the evening will be John Kupec and he will be speaking on his specialty mushrooms.
First Vice President Judy Midas will conduct the business meeting. Reservations are necessary so please respond to Judy no later than Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Food pantry
The Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets. There is to be no parking in the alley before 9:45 a.m. Recipients are reminded to bring along shopping bags.
Coaldale
Fall cleanup
Coaldale Borough will have its annual fall cleanup on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Large items will be picked up including washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, and a limit of five tires and rims. All items must have all chemicals removed and doors taken off.
In addition up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.
Lansford
St. John Lutheran
Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

Protestant Slovak Cemetery Assn.
The next meeting of the Protestant Slovak Cemetery Association will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Nesquehoning. Anyone with an interest in taking care of the cemetery should plan to attend this meeting.
