St. John Lutheran
Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

Summit Hill
SHCIO meeting
The Oct. 1 meeting of the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization is postponed until Nov. 5. At that time new officers for 2013 will be considered.
Shade Tree Commission
The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting their fall tree plantings along the borough streets on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27.
Any borough residents or businesses interested in having a tree planted in front of their property may call John Kupec at (570) 645-9644 or Lou Vermillion at 645-9772 for information. Memorial trees will also be planted.
Donations toward the cost of the trees will be accepted. Trees will be ordered in mid-October. Volunteers on the planting days are always welcome as well as contributions to the Shade Tree Commission's efforts.

Meed's free community dinner
There will be a free community dinner at Meed's United Methodist Church, 126 West Catawissa St., tonight from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
NCFC Ladies Auxiliary
The New Columbus Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. Gerry McConnan will preside and the hospitality committee will be Rosemary Coniglio and Connie Budusky.
