St. John Lutheran

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study at 6:30.

Summit Hill

Shade Tree Commission

The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting its annual Arbor Day ceremony and tree plantings on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. The ceremony and memorial plantings will be held in Memorial Park near the post office.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a tree to be planted in memory or in honor of someone may call John Kupec at (570) 645-9644 or Lou Vermillion at 645-9772 for information.

Trees will be ordered in mid-April. Volunteers to help plant and clean up are always welcome as well as any contributions to the Shade Tree Commission's efforts.

History of St. Luke's presentation

The Summit Hill Historical Society will host a presentation on "The History of St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale" on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 West Hazard St. The presenter is Joseph Tocci of the Radiology Department and it will include many photos.

Clean ups scheduled

Clean up days for Summit Hill borough have been announced by the borough secretary.

The dates are:

• April 18, East Side of town, Knepper's Trailer Court, east and west of White Bear Drive

• April 24, West Side of Town, Laurel Drive, east and west of Mountaintop Road, with normal trash pick up.
