Mahoning couple celebrates 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. George Pekurny of Mahoning Valley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month. They were married on March 2, 1963 at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church in Lansford by the late Rev. John Kovacick.

Mrs. Pekurny is the former Linda Pettit, daughter of the late Ralph E. Pettit and Carrie C. Pettit of Lehighton. George is the son of the late George and Anna Pekurny of Mahoning Valley.

They have two sons, George and his wife Erin of Kunkletown, and Chris and his wife Tracy of Lehighton. There are six grandchildren, Lindsey and Kendra Pekurny of Kunkletown and Christopher, Anna, Nicholas, and Abby Pekurny of Lehighton.

The couple was honored with a party, hosted by their sons at the Palmerton Sokol Club. Numerous friends and relatives attended.
