Special Olympians enjoy annual family picnic

Athletes, family, coaches, and volunteers filled the Koch-Wildoner pavilion at Mauch Chunk Lake Park recently for the annual Carbon County Special Olympics Family Picnic.
The aroma of hot dogs and hamburgers filled the air as those present played lawn games, visited the beach, and enjoyed the food and refreshments. There were also desserts, provided by the athletes and their families.
During the event it was announced that several of the Carbon County Special Olympians will be competing at the Special Olympics National Games, which will be held in New Jersey in June of 2014
