Scholarship offer
Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society is offering a $500 educational scholarship to one qualified woman in Schuylkill County. Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: must be female with a primary residence in Schuylkill County; currently enrolled in college with a major in education; and must have competed at least one year of college with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Piano concert
Local pianist Steven Moyer will perform his debut concert this Sunday at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.
A 2011 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Moyer is a six-year member of the Raider Marching Band. He has been studying piano performance at West Chester University, under the guidance of Juilliard alum Dr. Robert Bedford.
Doors at the art center will open at 4:30 p.m., with the concert scheduled for 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be available pre-concert and during a brief intermission.
SS. Peter and Paul
The Youth Choir of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church rehearses from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The adult choir rehearses from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Christmas memorial poinsettias, wrapped in gold foil, may be taken to the rectory anytime before Dec. 23.
Christmas services will include: Christmas Eve Masses at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Christmas Day Masses at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; New Year's Eve Mass at 7 p.m.; New Year's Day Masses at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
St. John UCC
The Sunday Worship activities at St. John Church of Christ are held at 9:30 a.m. This Sunday's service will include a presentation of the Christmas Cantata. Sunday school begins at 11 a.m. The weekly radio broadcast airs at 11:30 a.m. on WLSH radio station 1410 AM.
Christmas Eve services will be held next Tuesday: Quiet Communion at 4 p.m. and candle light service at 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This Sunday's service will include a presentation of the Christmas Cantata. Sunday school classes will meet at practice for the Christmas program.
Also this Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.
Christmas Eve services will be held at 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, bell choir rehearsal at 7 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 4:45 p.m.
Calvary Evangelical
The Rev. Dr. Edward Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include placing ornaments on the sanctuary Christmas tree. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the annual Christmas party will be held following the morning worship service.
An hour of praise and prayer will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Dec. 22, the Sunday school program will be presented at 6:30 p.m.
